Best vehicle type in Asia. Fast, comfortable, no parking problems and traffic jams. Motorbike here are different from 50cc scooters we get used to. Here they quite powerful (90 – 150cc).
Few caveats:
1. If you have no experience of driving two wheelers and there’s no necessary of doing that, it’s better not to start. Thailand is not the best country to start biker career.
2. If you already have experience of driving motorcycles, you still have to retrain for Asian traffic. Traffic on the roads denser, people drive carelessly.
3. Motorbike is not a motorcycle. It’s rather bicycle with a engine. There’s no necessary to drive 100 km/h. 30-40 km/h is normal speed for narrow Asian streets.
4. Helmet is not necessarily only because of fine. Watch your head!
5. Between shorts and jeans, choose jeans! Pureed jeans are much better than two weeks of healing abrasions.
6. Between yellow and red motorbike choose those one with better working brakes.
7. What documents you should take when rent motorbike: lease agreement, with owner tel. number mentioned, pass inspection.
8. Don’t forget to make photos of motorbike from all sides, especially scratches and sign of falls.
