The main are King and Queen birthdays, Loi Kratong – end of raining season (first fool moon of November), Song Kran – celebration of beginning of raining season (hell week during which everybody pour water at each other and smear talcum powder).
Lot of Buddhist holidays. Thai people also gladly celebrate Catholic Christmas, European New Year, Chinese New Year. These days Pattaya is seething, decorated with traditional holiday symbols. In New Year eve a lot of people go to the beach, launch fireworks and Chinese style lanterns. The atmosphere and ambiance is unforgettable, certainly cosmopolitan dream.
While all religious holidays and few government, all shops stop to sell alcohol. Don’t forget to stoch up in advance.
