Phuket southern part is also known as Chalong. This is the well-set district, however, it is not very popular among the tourists. The reason for that is quite clear - the absence of the beach. The local shoreline is used mainly as the docks for the local yacht owners, which doesn't leave too many chances for the desirable beach leisure among tourists.
However, Chalong features well-developed infrastructure and some kind of suburban atmosphere, which is perfect for the long-term living. Phuket town and most of the popular beaches located a few minutes drive from here.

The shoreline is very close but if you are looking for the appropriate place for the beach leisure it is worth to drive 5-6 km to the Phuket town.

District's infrastructure is well developed, so if you are not frustrated with the distance to the decent beach living here can be considered quite comfortable.
You can find cafes, shops, spa, and other entertainment facilities literally everywhere. Family tourists would love to visit the amusement park, marina park, zoo, etc.

Both public and private transportation network is well developed in this district, so there will be no issues with moving around the island from Chalong.

Muay Thai street, "Flight of gibbon" park, botanical park, zoo, Wat Chalong temple, Big Buddha temple.
9. Nightlife.
Despite most of the Chalong is a quiet place, nightlife seekers will find a lot of desirable entertainment here. There are lot of bars and clubs in the district where you can spend a great time till dawn. The streets are strictly patrolled so don't bother about the security.
