Thai jetski riders slip to world No.3

The International Jet Sports Boating Association has recently announced that Thailand becomes No.3 in the world ranking following their success with six gold medals at the recent IJSBA World Finals at Lake Havasu in Arizana, USA.

Sanit Vorapanya, president of the Jet Sports Boating Association of Thailand, believes the Thai jetski riders will have a bright prospect and can reclaim world No.1 in the not-too-distant future.

The IJSBA World Finals took place at Lake Havasu from October 1 to 9 which saw the Thai jetski riders perform superbly to win six world titles, nine silver and eight bronze medals. They finished third overall, while the USA and Kuwait clinched the top two positions. Last year, Thailand, the USA and Kuwait shared top honour.

Though the Thai jetski riders suffered a slump from No.1 to No.3 in the world ranking after the recent World Finals, Sanit said that it was not a failure as riders from several countries have been improving in leaps and bounds, while the Thai riders saw many young guns in awesome form to claim world titles.

"I'm convinced that in the near future, Thailand can reclaim the world No.1 spot. In the G-Shock Pro Tour, the Thai jetski riders have already proved that they have high potentials and we, therefore, cannot ignore their abilities. They can become new hopes of the Thai jetski.

"Last year, we claimed eight titles in the World Finals. It's quite certain that the jetski riders from other countries have also been improving. Though we claimed only six titles this year to finish third place overall to the USA and Kuwait, I think that it's another successful year of the Thai jetski riders," he added.

The IJSBA World Finals concluded last Sunday at Lake Havasu in Ari the Thai jetski riders return with six gold medals. They comprised Kasidit Teeraprateep in the Novice Ski Stock class, Thidapach Srivaurai in the Novice Women Ski Limited, Thipmongkol Khemsri in the Amateur Runabout 800 Limited and the Sport Spec Slalom event, Attapon Kunsa in the Amateur Runabout 1000 Superstock class and Noppadol Submeunsean in the Pro Am Runabout 1000 SS event.
