Thai MIA introduced a new type of visa project, enabling all foreign tourists from any country get a multiple-entry tourist visa.
Multiple-entry visas will be divided into two types, which differ by duration only:
First, 2,000 baht visa, gives permission to stay in Thailand 6 months.
Second, 3,000 baht visa, gives permission to stay in Thailand for 1 year.
Right now those project is under the consideration of Thai deputies. MIA representatives believe that the project will be approved by the members of the Supreme Council and may be launched by the end of next month, before the Chinese New Year. Working Committee, which is developing the project, said that this innovation can increase the number of tourists in geometric progression.
Association of Thai travel agencies said that the project can certainly facilitate the stay of foreigners in the kingdom, but adoption of such measures does not necessarily guarantee a sharp rise in tourist traffic.
Marketing department of TAT (Tourism Authority of Thailand) points that this innovation is necessary to attract more tourists from the Baltic countries, Eastern Europe and Kazakhstan, due to a sharp decline in tourist flow from Russia, which is directly related to ruble depreciation.
It is expected that after project would be finally launched, incomes from tourism can bring about 2,200,000,000,000 THB into Thai budget.
